I See You There

I see you there,

Sitting in the corner

I see your heart,

The dreamer, the mourner

~

I see you there,

Huddled in the shadows

I see your heart,

The secrets no one knows

~

I see you there,

Gazing at the stars

I see your heart,

The joys, the hopes, the scars

~

I see you there,

Dancing in the moonlight

I see your heart,

Trying to stay in the fight

~

I see you there,

Wishing you could sing

I see your heart,

Weeping before the King

~

I see you there,

Crushed by the world’s weight

I see your heart,

Wishing you could celebrate

~

I see you there,

Waiting through the winter

I see your heart,

Your soul about to splinter

~

I see you there,

Your face a mirror of mine

I see your heart,

Pretending like me that it’s fine

~

I see you there,

And I don’t know what to say

I see your heart,

For I feel the exact same way

~

I see you there,

And my only comfort is this:

I see your heart,

And I can assure you it is His

~

I see you there,

Wondering if He cares

I see your heart,

Loved beyond compare

~

Oh, you in the corner,

The tired sojourner,

Oh, you in the moonlight,

Striving to do right,

Let me offer what I know

From my time in the shadow:

~

He loves you,

You whom none adore

He sees you,

You whom all ignore

~

And at last, at last, someday

He will take you home

And you will find your place,

Nevermore to roam

    Dearest Abby,

This is really beautiful. I am so proud of you. You are certainly an accomplished writer and certainly better read than I!
