Alone Yet Not Alone

The wall is hard behind my head

I am so cold I think I’m dead

The room is dark and I am blind

I sit frozen with a sobbing mind

I am alone in this emptiness

I am alone

Yet not alone

Chandeliers gleam golden down

Upon the people of the town

I yearn to join the noisy tide,

But always I end up silent outside

I am alone in this business

I am alone

Yet not alone

The minutes stretch, spin, become years

Stained with love and blood and tears

The path goes ever on and on

I try to follow, but all is gone

I am alone in this life

I am alone

Yet not alone

In the coldness of isolation

In the chaos of a nation

In the rush of day by day

He has been there to show the way

I was alone through it all

I was alone

Yet not alone
