NaPoWriMo 2015 ~ Hero

I feel like I’m breaking some sort of rule, posting twice in one day. I guess that’s what happens with NaPoWriMo, though.

Warning: The picture of Jesus is pretty bloody, which be upsetting to some of you, but I want to show how horrific and ugly it was. It wasn’t a pretty painting with Jesus in perfect white robes walking calmly to the cross. It was bloody and gory and agonizing and disgusting. This is the depth of His love for us. I also wanted to highlight the difference between what the world thinks heroes look like and what true heroes look like.

To all the heroes.

April 3rd, 2015 ~ Hero

epicsoldier

they see heroes in the warriors,

in battle victors whom all praise

they see heroes in the conquerors,

in mighty soldiers with swords upraised

they see heroes in the lovely,

in strong youths and pretty maids

they see heroes in the lucky,

in sharpened wits and gleaming blades

but—

aloneincrowd

I see heroes in the forgotten,

in lonely servants toiling through the night

I see heroes in the common,

in the faceless faithful kindling the light

I see heroes in the strangers,

in the cast out who yearn for home

I see heroes in the rangers,

in those that bless while they roam

but even more—

jesusbloody

I see a hero in the Rejected One

in the Man cloaked in gore and shame

I see a hero in the Forsaken Son,

in the gruesome body that thorns defame

I see a hero in the Defeated Lord,

in the meek man bathed in blood and spit

I see a hero in the Dying Word,

in the King defeated to His foe’s pit

because—

jesusglory

I see a hero in the Risen Lamb,

in the shining Victor clothed in white

I see a hero in the Living I Am,

the Prince with power to set all right

I see a hero in the Sacrifice,

in the Servant with palms forever red

I see a hero in Ransom’s Price,

in the Lover who saved these sinners dead

  1. What a precious, important reminder, and I really like the contrast from the first two stanzas and the others. And your rhythm and rhyming were awesome –– they made it flow really smoothly, and the words you rhymed with were great.
